Have you ever broken a lid (or just part of a piece) and needed to make a replacement?  Here is an easy way you can use a photo copier to compensate for the shrinkage rate of your clay.

Step 1.   Figure out the shrinkage rate of your clay.  Then use the calculator below to figure out how much you need to enlarge your piece by, so that it shrinks back to the correct size.

Step 2.  Place your piece on the photo copy machine and change the settings so you are enlarging by the amount you just came up with.

Step 3.  Use the copy as a guide to remake the broken piece!
